Pickup directly at St. Johann, Klybeck or Dreiländereck. Your driver waits dockside as you disembark and assists with all luggage.

Cross-border transfers from the France–Switzerland–Germany border region. We regularly serve Viking River Cruises and other lines docking at Huningue — closest dock to Colmar and Strasbourg.

Travel to Interlaken, Lucerne, Jungfrau, Zermatt, St. Moritz, Davos and the Glacier Express boarding stations. We serve all major Alpine destinations as private door-to-door transfers.

Private transfers to Zurich Airport (ZRH) and Basel EuroAirport (BSL/MLH/EAP). Fixed prices, direct routes, no meter running.
We serve passengers from every major river cruise operator that includes Basel on its Rhine itinerary. We are fully independent — not affiliated with any cruise company — which means you book direct and avoid the cruise line markup.
Basel has three official river cruise terminals, and Viking and other lines also use the Huningue dock across the French border. Our drivers know exactly where each cruise line docks and will be waiting at the right spot.
Located at St. Johanns-Rheinweg in downtown Basel, adjacent to the St. Johann district park. Approximately 2 km from Basel main station (Basel SBB). One of the most-used Rhine cruise terminals.
Located at Uferstrasse (Klybeckquai platform 2) in northern Basel. Further from the city centre — pre-arranged private ground transportation is strongly recommended here.
Located at Westquaistrasse 39, at the three-country corner where Switzerland, France, and Germany meet. Used by various cruise operators on seasonal rotation.
Located just across the French border from Basel, near the Dreiländereck. We regularly provide cross-border transfers from Huningue into Switzerland with no surcharge. Closest dock to Colmar (30 min) and Strasbourg (50 min).
Not sure which dock your ship will use — or want to know exactly what to expect when you arrive? Each port guide covers the terminal location, which cruise lines use it, distances and travel times to key destinations, what to expect on the day of your transfer, and when to book.
After 10–14 days on a Rhine river cruise, the last thing you want is a stressful journey home. Here is how the main options compare for cruise guests disembarking in Basel.

Continue to BookingBasel, Switzerland, is one of Europe's most important river cruise hubs. Situated at the point where the Rhine River bends northward and where Switzerland, France, and Germany meet — the so-called Dreiländereck, or "three-country corner" — Basel serves as the traditional starting and ending point for Rhine river cruises travelling downstream toward Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Cologne, or as the endpoint for reverse itineraries beginning in the Netherlands.
The river cruise season in Basel typically runs from April through October, with the busiest periods in May, June, September, and October. During peak weeks, three to five cruise ships may be disembarking simultaneously across Basel's different terminals. We strongly recommend booking your transfer as early as possible — ideally two to three months before your disembarkation date. If your cruise ends in May, June, September or October, secure your transfer as soon as your sailing is confirmed.
Basel EuroAirport (BSL / MLH / EAP) — Officially called EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, this airport is physically located in France (Alsace) but operates dedicated Swiss, French, and German customs zones. It is approximately 10 km from the Basel cruise docks — a transfer takes 20 to 30 minutes. Basel Airport primarily serves European destinations on carriers including easyJet, Swiss, Vueling, and Transavia. If your onward flight is within Europe, this is often the simpler choice.
Zurich Airport (ZRH) — Approximately 85 to 95 km from Basel, with a transfer time of around 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes under normal traffic. Zurich is Switzerland's main intercontinental hub, served by Swiss International Air Lines, United, Delta, American Airlines, Lufthansa, British Airways, Air Canada, and others. For passengers flying to North America, this is usually the correct airport. The added distance is worthwhile for the breadth of international connections.
A growing number of cruise passengers choose to extend their trip in Switzerland after disembarking in Basel — treating the transfer as the beginning of a land holiday rather than just a route to the airport. The most popular post-cruise extension destinations are:
St. Moritz (approximately 235 km, 3 hours 30 minutes) is Switzerland's most celebrated Alpine resort, sitting at 1,822 m in the Upper Engadin valley of Graubünden. Home to Badrutt's Palace Hotel (founded 1896), the Diavolezza cable car (3,092 m), and Piz Bernina (4,049 m) — the highest peak in the Eastern Alps — it is the natural choice for guests seeking a prestige Alpine finale to their Rhine cruise. The route climbs via the Julier Pass (2,284 m) for a dramatic approach. View route
Davos (approximately 225 km, 3 hours) is the highest town in the Alps at 1,560 m, known globally as the host of the World Economic Forum and regionally as a year-round Alpine resort of real character. The Parsenn ski area, Davos Lake, the Kirchner Museum (world's largest collection of Expressionist painter Ernst Ludwig Kirchner), and the Thomas Mann "Magic Mountain" connection give Davos unusual cultural depth alongside its natural setting. View route
The Glacier Express — running 291 km between Zermatt and St. Moritz, crossing 291 bridges and 91 tunnels, and reaching 2,033 m at the Oberalp Pass — is the world's most celebrated scenic train journey. We transfer guests from their Basel cruise dock directly to the Glacier Express boarding stations at Chur (approximately 130 km, 2 hours) or Andermatt (approximately 155 km, 2 hours 30 minutes). Glacier Express train tickets must be purchased separately at sbb.ch — they are not included in the transfer price. View route
Strasbourg (approximately 80 km, 1 hour from Basel cruise ports) is the capital of Alsace and seat of the European Parliament — a city whose Grande Île was the first entire city centre in France designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1988). The Notre-Dame Cathedral's spire (142 m) was the tallest structure in the world from 1439 to 1874. The Petite France quarter, the Ponts Couverts (built 1230–1250), and the European institutions make it one of the most distinctive post-cruise destinations accessible from Basel. Guests picking up from Huningue (Viking's dock, already in France) reach Strasbourg in 45 to 55 minutes with no border crossing. View route
Colmar (approximately 65 km, 45 minutes from Basel cruise ports) is our shortest destination route — the best-preserved medieval old town in Alsace, with the Isenheim Altarpiece (Matthias Grünewald, 1512–1516) at the Musée Unterlinden, the Petite Venise canal quarter, and the Maison Pfister (1537). For Huningue guests the journey is just 30 to 35 minutes. Colmar sits at the centre of the Alsace Wine Route — Riquewihr, Eguisheim, and Kaysersberg are all within 12 km and available as add-ons at an additional charge. View route
The Black Forest (Freiburg im Breisgau, approximately 45 km, 40 minutes) is the closest cross-border destination from Basel cruise docks. Freiburg's Gothic Münster cathedral, begun in 1200, anchors one of Germany's most walkable and sunny university cities. Triberg, 75 km from Basel, is home to Germany's highest waterfall — the Triberger Wasserfälle cascade 163 metres through dense forest — and the world's largest cuckoo clocks. Titisee, a glacial lake at 838 metres, offers forest walks and traditional Black Forest atmosphere. View route
Rhine Falls (Schaffhausen, approximately 75 km, 1 hour) is Europe's largest waterfall by volume — 23 metres high and 150 metres wide, with up to 600 cubic metres of water per second at peak flow. Boat trips ferry visitors to a rocky outcrop at the centre of the falls. Rhine Falls lies almost directly between Basel and Zurich Airport, making it an ideal en route stop — available as an add-on at an additional charge on Basel to Zurich Airport transfers. View route
Lugano (approximately 230 km, 2 hours 45 minutes via the A2 and Gotthard Road Tunnel) is the principal city of Italian-speaking Switzerland — Lake Lugano (48.7 km², maximum depth 288 m), Monte San Salvatore (912 m, funicular from Paradiso since 1890), the Piazza della Riforma, and the MASI contemporary art museum. The Gotthard Road Tunnel (16.9 km, opened 1980) means the transition from Swiss-German Basel to Italian-flavoured Ticino takes under 3 hours door to door. Lugano is also the natural gateway to Milan (approximately 75 km, 1 hour onward) for guests flying home via Malpensa. View route
Chur (approximately 130 km, 2 hours) is the capital of Graubünden and the oldest continuously inhabited city in Switzerland — settled since approximately 11,000 BC. Its Altstadt contains the Cathedral begun in 1178, five medieval gates, and the Rhaetian Museum. It is also the eastern terminus of the Glacier Express and the rail hub for onward connections to St. Moritz and Davos. View route
Andermatt (approximately 155 km, 2 hours 30 minutes) sits at 1,437 m at the convergence of four Alpine passes — Gotthard (2,091 m), Furka (2,429 m), Oberalp (2,033 m), and Susten (2,224 m). It is the mid-point of the Glacier Express route and home to the Chedi Andermatt hotel (opened 2013) and the Gemsstock ski mountain (2,961 m). Glacier Express tickets must be purchased separately at sbb.ch. View route
All transfers are operated by professional, English-speaking drivers familiar with the Basel cruise terminals, typical cruise docking positions, and the practical realities of disembarkation. Your driver waits dockside as passengers disembark and coordinates with the ship's crew using your cabin number, then assists with all bags to the vehicle.
